Reflections – No Regrets

When I heard that the #1 regret of elders is that they hadn’t lived life authentically, I was saddened. I thought a lot about my father. He was a dentist with four children who were in tuition schools for a great deal of his parenting life. He devoted himself to taking care of his family and instilling important values in us. He died an unhappy man with regrets in many areas of his life. It is only from my current ‘hindsight’ vision, as an elder myself, that I can understand why he seemed so unhappy when I was a child. I didn’t understand it then.

My dad loved the violin. He really wanted to be a musician but he saw his older brother, an accomplished musician, live a difficult life because he could not gain employment doing what he loved. So my dad chose the path of financial assurance and used some of his creative skills to make interesting molds of people’s teeth.

Perhaps that’s one of the reasons I have devoted my life to understanding authenticity and living with ‘no regrets’. Understanding my authenticity has certainly caused me to have ‘no regrets’. Being authentic will likely do the same for you.

With Love and Authenticity,
